The band The Pretenders announced that they will release the album Hate for Sale on May 1st via BMG Records. The announcement was accompanied by the first single from the new album, "The Buzz," which you can listen to below.
Speaking about the song, Chrissie Hynde , frontwoman of the Pretenders, explained: “I think we all know that some relationships can take on the characteristics of a drug addiction. That’s what the song is about. It’s not my case, of course – I’m never obsessive, never obsessive, never obsessive…”
Hate for Sale will be the band's first album in four years, following Alone . Chrissie co-wrote all the songs on the album with guitarist James Walbourne Stephen Street handled the production .
“I wanted to write with James from day one. He’s especially sought after and has recorded with Jerry Lee Lewis , Dave Gahan , and The Rails, to name just a few. We always planned to write while traveling, but as anyone in a band would say, being on tour is a procrastinator’s dream come true,” Hynde says about the delay in solidifying the partnership with the guitarist.
Marking the 11th studio album from Hynde and company, Hate for Sale is the debut of the live lineup featuring bassist Nick Wilkinson and drummer – and founding member – Martin Chambers , in addition to the vocalist herself and guitarist Walbourne.
